Petit Enira 2020
Petit Enira 2020: A Refined Merlot with Quiet Depth
Petit Enira 2020 offers a composed and approachable expression of Merlot from Bessa Valley. It is a wine shaped by balance rather than excess, where fruit, freshness and structure meet in a calm and confident style.
Tasting Profile & Sensory Experience
The wine shows a deep ruby colour, clear and inviting. The aromatic profile is warm and layered:
- Primary aromas: Black cherry and blackcurrant.
- Secondary notes: Roasted spices and a discreet touch of cinnamon.
On the palate, Petit Enira 2020 is medium-bodied, with a lively, refreshing acidity that brings clarity to the fruit. The tannins are silky and well integrated, creating a smooth, velvety texture. Ripe fruit is supported by gentle structure, and the finish is balanced and nuanced, leaving a lasting impression of fresh fruit and subtle spice.
Vintage Character
The 2020 vintage brings out the natural elegance of Merlot, combining varietal clarity with a sense of harmony. Careful work in the vineyard and cellar has resulted in a wine that is both accessible in its youth and capable of graceful development.
Terroir & Winemaking
Grape Variety:
- 100% Merlot
Winemaking:
The grapes are harvested by hand with strict quality control in the vineyard. After destemming and careful berry selection, whole berries are transferred by gravity into concrete tanks without crushing. Cold maceration precedes fermentation, followed by controlled alcoholic fermentation and extended warm maceration. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 30% new and 70% one-year-old, adding structure and subtle complexity without overshadowing the fruit. The final blend is filtered and bottled.
Food Pairing & Serving Suggestions
Petit Enira 2020 pairs naturally with a wide range of dishes and is equally enjoyable on its own:
- Meats: Roast chicken, pork, veal, duck
- Hearty dishes: Pasta with rich sauces, mushroom dishes
- Cheeses: Semi-hard and mild aged cheeses
Serving temperature: 16–18°C
Cellaring potential: Enjoyable now for its balance and freshness, with the ability to develop further nuance over the next 5–7 years.
