Roussanne 2022

Domaine Bessa Valley Roussanne 2022: A Textured and Luminous White

Roussanne 2022 presents a distinctive and quietly expressive interpretation of the variety. It combines aromatic depth with a refined, tactile palate, shaped by patient élevage in French oak and extended contact with the lees. The result is a white wine of presence, balance and long resonance. Limited production: only 3,615 bottles.

Tasting Profile & Sensory Experience

The wine shows a bright, shining medium-yellow colour. The bouquet is intense and varietal, unfolding in clear layers:
  • Primary aromas: Apricot and honey.
  • Secondary notes: Chamomile and discreet oak tones.
On the palate, Roussanne 2022 is soft yet crisp, with a medium to full body and an oily, layered texture. The oak is well integrated, supporting the fruit without masking it. The finish is distinctive and very long, leaving a lingering sense of depth and quiet complexity.
Terroir & Grape Variety
Careful parcel selection and precise timing of the harvest ensure aromatic clarity and natural balance. The combination of fermentation and ageing in new French oak with extended bâtonnage adds structure and dimension while preserving freshness. Grape Variety:
  • 100% Roussanne
Winemaking & Ageing
Detailed grape analyses determine the optimal harvest date, followed by hand-picking with strict quality control in the vineyard. The grapes are gently destemmed and whole berries are carefully selected. Direct pneumatic pressing allows precise control over juice parameters such as colour, acidity and phenolic balance. Alcoholic fermentation takes place over approximately 20 days at low temperatures in 400- and 500-litre new French oak barrels. The wine undergoes bâtonnage on heavy lees for six months, followed by bâtonnage on fine lees for a further three months, adding texture and depth. After blending, the wine is stabilised, filtered and bottled.
Food Pairing & Serving
Roussanne 2022 pairs naturally with dishes that mirror its texture and aromatic depth:
  • Seafood: Scallops, lobster, creamy seafood dishes
  • White meats: Chicken with herbs, veal
  • Vegetarian dishes: Roasted vegetables, dishes with herbs and mild spices
  • Cheeses: Soft and lightly aged cheeses
Serving temperature: 10–12°C

Cellaring potential: Enjoyable now for its layered texture, with the ability to develop further nuance over the next 4–6 years. Limited production: 3,615 bottles (0.75 L)

ShineON – Blanc de Noir

There is something inherently paradoxical in crafting a white wine from red grapes — a quiet transformation that challenges expectations and rewards curiosity. Shine ON Blanc de Noir by Bessa Valley is exactly that. Inspired by the timeless energy of music and the idea of expressing individuality, it brings together precision and emotion in a refined, contemporary style.
The Art of Blanc de Noir
Blanc de Noir — “white from black” — is one of the most delicate expressions in winemaking. Its essence lies in gentle extraction, allowing the juice of red grapes to remain clear, untouched by colour. Crafted from 100% Merlot, Shine ON begins in the vineyard, where grapes are harvested slightly before full ripeness to preserve freshness and natural acidity. From there, every step is guided by precision:
  • Only free-run juice is used
  • Pressing is gentle and controlled
  • Fermentation takes place at 14°C
  • The process follows white winemaking techniques throughout
The result is purity — effortless, clean and precise.
A Wine of Lightness & Clarity
In the glass, Shine ON reveals a luminous, almost weightless character. The aromas unfold with subtle elegance — pear, melon and delicate exotic notes. On the palate, the wine is fresh, vibrant and juicy. The finish is clean, refined and quietly expressive. This is not a wine that seeks attention — it draws you in.
A Modern Expression
Shine ON moves between worlds — tradition and modernity, technique and feeling. A wine for those who choose their own path. Shine ON — in your own way.
