Petit Enira 2020
Petit Enira 2020: A Refined Bordeaux-Inspired Blend with Depth and Elegance
Petit Enira 2020 is a harmonious blend of 63% Merlot, 29% Syrah and 8% Petit Verdot, offering a composed and approachable expression of Bessa Valley's distinctive winemaking style. Merlot brings softness and generous fruit, Syrah contributes depth and subtle spice, while Petit Verdot adds structure and complexity.
Shaped by balance rather than excess, the wine brings together ripe fruit, freshness and refined tannins in a confident yet elegant style.
Tasting Profile & Sensory Experience
The wine shows a deep ruby colour, clear and inviting. The aromatic profile is warm and layered:
- Primary aromas: Black cherry and blackcurrant.
- Secondary notes: Roasted spices and a discreet touch of cinnamon.
On the palate, Petit Enira 2020 is medium-bodied, with a lively, refreshing acidity that brings clarity to the fruit. The tannins are silky and well integrated, creating a smooth, velvety texture. Ripe fruit is supported by gentle structure, and the finish is balanced and nuanced, leaving a lasting impression of fresh fruit and subtle spice.
Vintage Character
The 2020 vintage highlights the natural harmony between the three grape varieties. Merlot provides a generous, fruit-driven foundation, complemented by the spicy character of Syrah and the structural elegance of Petit Verdot.
Careful work in the vineyard and cellar has resulted in a well-balanced wine that combines immediate appeal with the potential for graceful development.
Terroir & Winemaking
Grape Varieties:
- 63% Merlot
- 29% Syrah
- 8% Petit Verdot
Winemaking:
The grapes are harvested by hand with strict quality control in the vineyard. After destemming and careful berry selection, whole berries are transferred by gravity into concrete tanks without crushing. Cold maceration precedes fermentation, followed by controlled alcoholic fermentation and extended warm maceration.
After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 30% new and 70% one-year-old, adding structure and subtle complexity without overshadowing the fruit.
The final blend is filtered and bottled.
