Count Stephan von Neipperg in the Bessa Valley vineyard. So far, so good!
Bessa Valley – organic fertilizing of the Syrah plots in the Spring of 2018.
Count Stephan von Neipperg, Dr. Karl-Heinz Hauptmann and Marc Dworkin (filming) attended the old-style organic fertilization of Bessa Valley’s praised Syrah plots in the Spring of 2018. The Syrah grapes produced in these dedicated plots (5 ha each) are at the heat of the best wines made in the valley, and for a number of years only organic fertilizing has been used to help grow the cherished grapes. As can be seen from the video, the process of fertilizing the soil is also very “hands on” and old-school style with the great help of the local star-horse, called Marta. While some mass wine producers may find this approach lacking in productivity or efficiency, nothing beats the organic compost applied by a caring hand as far as growing only the best vines is concerned. Our secret recipe is applying around 6 tons per hectare for the best result. Try this in your own vineyard and share your experience!
